Plan the plumbing first: kitchens in Aubrey and Denton County

A kitchen remodel is mostly decisions about what goes where, and plumbing quietly limits those choices. Vor-Tex Plumbing Co. handles kitchen plumbing for repairs and remodels in Aubrey and across Denton County, as part of our fixture and appliance plumbing work. Call (469) 552-2881 before the cabinets are ordered, not after.

What kitchen plumbing includes

ItemWhat the plumbing involves

DishwasherHot supply, drain with a high loop or air gap, and power; see dishwasher installation
Refrigerator ice maker or water dispenserA small supply line with its own shutoff, placed where the refrigerator will actually sit
Pot fillerA cold line run to the wall above the range, set before the wall is closed
Drinking water tap or filterA supply tee, a space under the sink, and sometimes a drain connection; see reverse osmosis systems

Two visits in a remodel

Rough-in, before the walls and cabinets close

This is when the pipes move. We set supply and drain stubs, vents, and any gas stub for the new layout, and the locations need to match the cabinet drawings. A drain that lands behind a drawer box, or a supply that misses the dishwasher space, costs more to move after the wall is finished.

Finish, after cabinets and countertops

Once the counters are set, we install the sink, faucet, disposal, and dishwasher, connect the appliances, and test every connection. This visit is quick if the rough-in was right.

Questions to settle before the cabinet order

  • Is the sink staying put? Moving a sink a few feet is easier than moving it across the room.
  • Which side does the dishwasher go on? It should sit next to the sink so the drain is short.
  • Is there a pull-out trash or filter? Those take space under the sink that the plumbing also needs.
  • Is the range gas or electric? A gas line takes planning and, in some towns, a permit.
  • Where will the refrigerator go? Its water line should come up behind it, not across the room.

Kitchen repairs that do not involve a remodel

Not every kitchen call is a remodel. We repair leaking supply lines and stops, replace worn faucets, clear slow sink drains, and trace the source of water under a cabinet. If a kitchen drain backs up often, the cause may be further down the line, and our drain and sewer line cleaning page explains what that involves.

Call right away if

  • Water is running under the sink and the stops will not close.
  • You smell gas near the range. Leave the home and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not turn lights or switches on or off.
  • The kitchen sink and a nearby bathroom drain back up at the same time.

What a Vor-Tex kitchen visit looks like

  1. You call. We book a same-day or next-day window for repairs, and talk through the plan for a remodel.
  2. We look and quote on site. The $79 dispatch fee is credited toward the work when you approve it, and the estimate is up front.
  3. We do the work and show you. We test each connection with you.
  4. Warranty. A 5-year warranty on parts and labor applies when we supply the parts.

Remodel timing, in plain terms

Plumbing is one of the first trades in and one of the last to finish, which makes it easy to schedule wrong. Tell us your demolition date and the date the countertops are due. We work backward from those so the rough-in happens before the walls close and the sink is not waiting on a drain that was never moved. If your schedule shifts, call and we will rebook the visit rather than leave the kitchen without water longer than it needs to be.

Permits in Aubrey

Remodel plumbing can need a permit depending on the scope and the town. The City of Aubrey handles plumbing under its trade permit through Development Services. We tell you whether your job needs one and handle the paperwork when it does.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should the plumber come in during a kitchen remodel?

Twice, usually. A first visit comes before the cabinets and walls close up, to set supply, drain, and gas stubs where the new layout needs them. A second visit comes after cabinets and countertops, to set the sink, faucet, disposal, and dishwasher.

Can you move my kitchen sink to an island?

Often yes, but an island sink needs a drain and a vent, and that takes planning. On a slab, the drain work may mean opening the floor. We look at the layout and tell you what the move involves before we quote.

Can you run a gas line for a new range?

Yes. See our gas line installation page. Gas work follows its own safety rules, and if you ever smell gas, leave the home and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.

Can you add a water filter or reverse osmosis tap to the kitchen?

Yes. We install reverse osmosis systems and can set a dedicated drinking-water faucet at the sink. Tell us during planning so the cabinet space and the hole in the counter are ready.

What does the $79 dispatch fee cover?

It covers sending a licensed plumber to your home to look at the kitchen and give you an up-front estimate. When you approve the recommended work, the $79 is applied toward your repair total.

Is the work under warranty?

We provide a 5-year warranty on parts and labor when we supply the parts. Ask about the details when you call (469) 552-2881.
