Adding a grill, range, or generator? Plan the gas line before you buy
A new gas appliance is only as good as the pipe feeding it. Vor-Tex Plumbing Co. installs new gas lines and extends existing ones for homes in Aubrey and Denton County, from a single outdoor grill connection to a line for a standby generator. Call (469) 552-2881 and tell us what you want to run, and where.
What we install
- Outdoor kitchens and grill lines, including a quick-connect stub on the patio.
- Fire pits and fireplace gas logs.
- Ranges and cooktops, including a switch from electric to gas.
- Gas dryers.
- Tankless water heaters, which usually need more gas than a tank unit.
- Standby generators and pool or spa heaters, which are large gas loads.
Signs your home needs a new or larger line
- Burners or a dryer run weak when a second gas appliance is on.
- You are buying an appliance and the connection is not where it needs to be.
- A previous owner ran an unfinished or unmarked line, and you do not know what is behind it.
- You are remodeling a kitchen, or building an outdoor space, and want gas piped in before the walls or concrete are closed.
If what you have is a smell of gas, stop reading and see gas line repair. Leave the home and call your utility or 911 from outside.
Why pipe size and route matter
Every gas appliance has a rating for how much fuel it burns. The line has to carry the total of everything running at once, over the actual length of the run. A pipe that is too small works fine until two appliances fire up together, and then the last one on starves. That is why we ask what you plan to add now and what you might add later, and size the line for both. The route matters too: where it enters the house, whether it runs inside walls, attic, or underground, and how it stays protected from damage and moisture.
What we do
We look at the location, measure the run, and total up the appliance loads. Then we choose pipe and fittings that suit the job and local code, install the line with a shutoff valve at each appliance, and connect the appliance. When the work is done, we check the new line for leaks before anything is put into service. Where your city requires a permit and an inspection, we handle the permit. If the total load is more than your meter or the existing house piping can serve, we tell you up front, because a meter upgrade is arranged with the gas utility, not by us.
Natural gas or propane
Natural gas comes through a utility meter. Propane comes from a tank on your property, filled by a supplier. The two run at different pressures and use different regulators and appliance settings, so an appliance has to be set up for the fuel you actually have. If you are not sure which fuel your home uses, look at your bills or for a tank in the yard, or ask us.
Starting the project
- You call. Tell us the appliance, the location, and any model numbers you already have.
- We walk the job and quote it. The $79 dispatch fee applies to the visit and is credited toward the work when you approve it. The estimate is in your hands before we begin.
- We install the line. You see what went in and where the shutoff is.
- Warranty. We provide a 5-year warranty on parts and labor when we supply the parts.
The gas line repair and installation cost guide lists typical ranges so you can plan before the visit.
Which utility, and who has no gas at all
In Little Elm, most residential gas customers are with CoServ Gas rather than Atmos Energy, with Railroad Commission figures showing roughly 8,300 CoServ residential consumers to about 1,200 for Atmos in 2019. The utility you have decides who sets the meter and who handles a capacity upgrade. In Providence Village, the town directory lists the area east of FM 2931 as all-electric with no gas service, so natural gas piping is not an option on those streets.
